Signs to look out for

Does your system need a power flush?

If any of these sound familiar, sludge is most likely building up in your radiators and pipework and slowing your heating down.

Cold at the bottom

The top of the radiator gets warm but the bottom stays cold, a classic sign of sludge settling inside.

Slow to heat up

Your home takes far longer than it should to feel warm after the heating comes on.

A noisy boiler

Banging, gurgling or knocking sounds as debris moves around the system.

Radiators stay cold

One or two never really get going, even after you have bled them.

Dirty water

Black or brown water comes out when you bleed a radiator instead of clean water.

Bleeding again and again

You find yourself bleeding the same radiators repeatedly just to get any heat.

Why power flush

Clear out the sludge, feel the difference

Over time your heating fills with sludge, rust and debris. It slows the water down, leaves cold spots and makes your boiler work harder than it should, pushing up your bills and wearing the system out sooner. A power flush puts it right.

Removes sludge, rust and debris

Restores full, even circulation

Quicker heat-up, warmer rooms

A quieter, healthier boiler

Lower running costs

A longer life for the whole system

Dose with inhibitor

Once the water runs clear we add a fresh corrosion inhibitor to keep the system clean for longer.

Test and hand back

We balance the system, check every radiator heats top to bottom, and leave everything tidy.

Good to know

Common questions

How much does a power flush cost?
Most power flushes start from £400. The exact price depends on the size of your system, how many radiators you have and how much sludge has built up. We confirm a fixed price after a quick home survey, with no surprises.
How long does it take?
Most homes are done in a day. Larger or heavily sludged systems can take a little longer, and we will always tell you before we start.
Do I need one before a new boiler?
Often, yes. Fitting a new boiler onto a dirty system can damage it and may affect the warranty, so a flush protects your investment. See more in our Boilers section.
Will it fix my cold radiators?
If sludge is the cause, yes. If a radiator or valve is faulty we will tell you honestly and talk through the options with you.
Is it messy?
No. We protect your floors and furniture, work tidily throughout and clean up properly before we leave.
