Hot water cylinders

From a new unvented cylinder to an annual safety check, one local team installs, services and repairs hot water cylinders right across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

What we do

Installed, serviced and repaired

Vented or unvented, a brand new cylinder or a repair to the one you have, the same trusted local team looks after it, tidily and booked around your day.

New cylinder installation

Vented and unvented cylinders supplied and fitted, sized to your home and hot water demand. We remove and dispose of the old one.

Unvented (G3) installations

Pressurised, mains-fed cylinders installed by G3-qualified engineers, for strong, balanced pressure to every tap and shower.

Servicing & annual safety checks

We check the cylinder, controls and safety valves every year, just like a boiler, to keep everything running safely.

Repairs & new immersions

Leaking cylinders, failed immersion heaters and faulty valves or controls put right, often in a single visit.

Legionella & byelaw compliance

Legionella risk assessments, system chlorination and cleaning, and Water Byelaw compliance works.

Know your cylinder

Which type do you have?

A quick guide to the three most common kinds. Not sure which is yours? Send us a photo and we will tell you.

Vented (open-vent)

Fed from a cold water tank in the loft, with the cylinder in an airing cupboard. Gentle, gravity-fed pressure. Simple and reliable.

Common in older Edinburgh homes

Unvented (pressurised)

Fed straight from the mains, no loft tank needed. Strong, balanced pressure to every outlet. Must be installed and serviced by a G3 engineer.

Great for powerful showers

Thermal store

Stores heated water and warms your mains water on demand through a coil. Works well with more than one heat source.

Good with multiple heat sources

Stay safe

An annual check keeps hot water safe

Cylinders, valves and controls wear over time. A yearly service catches small issues early and keeps everything working safely, exactly like your boiler.

Good to know

Common questions

Vented or unvented: which is right for me?
It depends on your mains pressure, the space you have, whether you have a loft tank, and how much hot water you use. Tell us about your home and we will advise on the best fit, with no pressure.
Do unvented cylinders need special qualifications?
Yes. Unvented, pressurised cylinders must be installed and serviced by a G3-qualified engineer. All of our unvented work is carried out to regulations by G3-qualified engineers.
How often should my cylinder be serviced?
Once a year, in the same way as your boiler, to keep the cylinder, controls and safety valves working safely. We offer a discount when the cylinder is serviced alongside a boiler service.
My cylinder is leaking or there is no hot water. Can you help?
Yes. We repair leaking cylinders, failed immersion heaters and faulty valves or controls, often in a single visit. Give us a call and describe what is happening.
What is legionella and do I need to worry about it?
Legionella is a bacteria that can grow in stored water. For most homes routine servicing is enough, but for landlords and larger systems we carry out risk assessments, chlorination and cleaning, and Water Byelaw compliance works.
